Dorset, England

Around about March 2014 we started thinking about taking a U.K. break when the weather improved. Our youngest son and his family spent a few days in Bournemouth, Dorset, last year and told us how much they had enjoyed it. It had been many years since I last spent a holiday in Bournemouth but I had fond memories of that occasion. My wife was unfamiliar with Bournemouth and Dorset but was keen to experience what the area had to offer.

I started looking on the internet for a suitable hotel. It soon became apparent that finding a suitable (meaning representing good value with good reviews) room at the time we wished to go, mid May, wasn't going to be easy. In fact at one time I had given up concluding that there just wasn't anything suitable at the time that we wanted to go.
After a gap of about ten days I decided to have another search. I then stumbled upon the Park Central Hotel. This had not come up on my previous searches for some reason. It ticked all the boxes especially in terms of the good reviews that had been posted by previous guests. On that basis I booked a room for five nights.
I will say now, it was an inspired choice and I can fully understand why this hotel receives such good reviews. I have added mine to them.

The one thing that we didn't have any control over was the weather, such a variable commodity in the U.K. But somebody 'Up there' must have wished us well because the weather during our stay was the best it has been so far this year. It was brilliant in every sense of the word.

I said in my Durham Cathedral etc. post, how rich the U.K. is in having beautiful scenery and historic monuments etc. Our experience in Dorset only confirmed this opinion. Here are some photos of what we saw in Just three days. They represent but a fraction of all there is to see and enjoy in Dorset and no, I do not have any connection whatsoever with the English Tourism board :-)
